RoHS COMPLIANCE

All products produced after January 1, 2006 meet or exceed the lead-free standard and are compliant to the RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC).

JKL Components does have service parts in inventory that are available for sale that were produced prior to the directive.  Many of these items do contain lead.

Please contact JKL Components to receive RoHS statements specific to the product of interest.

WEEE DIRECTIVE & CCFL RECYCLING

The 2002/96/EC “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is

aimed at proper recycling and disposal of finished electrical and electronic equipment products.

JKL Components products are not applicable to the WEEE Directive, as they are not finished products and are components that are used within a piece of equipment or in a finished good.

Consequently, customers that use Cold Cathode Fluorescent lamps within their products should take care to dispose of the lamps properly, as the lamps contain trace amounts of mercury.   Many resources are available to recycle these lamps.

JKL STATEMENT ON CONFLICT MINERALS

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, signed by President Obama on July 21, 2010, addresses new requirements for manufacturers of products containing tin, tantalum, gold, tungsten or any other “conflict metal”.

Section 1502 of this law imposes direct SEC reporting requirements on any publicly traded company whose product contain metals derived from conflict minerals.

Conflict minerals are mined in or near the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and have been determined by the U.S. Government to be financing conflict in the DRC and its neighboring countries.

JKL Components Position:

Although JKL Components is not publicly traded, JKL fully supports efforts associated with the total eradication of illegal mining operations.

JKL Components Corporation does survey the supply chain associated with these materials and while a portion of our products do contain tin, tungsten and gold, JKL has determined to the best of its knowledge and belief that none of the minerals used in our products originate from the Congo or its neighboring countries.

Although third party audits have not taken place to verify compliance of conflict-free minerals within the supply chain, JKL does require it’s suppliers to undergo 3rd party audits associated with maintaining quality certifications from accredited registrars.    In addition, JKL maintains a close relationship with our suppliers in which site visits occur throughout the year and meetings are conducted to ensure understanding of JKL’s requirements.

JKL is committed to working with its suppliers to proactively promote responsible sourcing that includes use of conflict-free materials and products that are not associated with human rights violations.

CALIFORNIA TRANSPARENCY IN SUPPLY CHAIN ACT OF 2010

 JKL POSITION STATEMENT

On January 1, 2012, The California Transparency in Supply Chain Act (SB 657), became effective.   The Act requires manufactures and retailers doing business in the State of California to issue a statement to disclose what efforts and commitments they are making to prevent slavery and human trafficking within the supply chain.

The Act only imposes posting requirements on companies that have annual worldwide gross receipts exceeding one hundred million dollars.  Although JKL is not required to declare our position, JKL is committed to making efforts in support of positive change.

JKL does not knowingly do business with companies that employ or contract with companies that employ slaves or trafficked persons.

In addition, JKL has implemented the following revisions to promote awareness within our supply chain.

JKL’s Supplier Approval Process has been amended to require sign off by the supplier to confirm that slavery and/or human trafficking is not practiced in their organization.   Where available, JKL requests that third party audit results be shared.

JKL’s annual supplier performance survey has been revised to add that JKL requires its suppliers comply with all relevant laws associated with fair labor standards to include slavery and human trafficking.

The annual survey also makes clear that;

Should JKL identify a supplier that fails to comply with laws associated with human rights and/or knowingly do business with parties associated with human rights violations or the procurement of conflict minerals, contracts will be subject to immediate termination.
