Labor costs and construction nuances are essential factors to consider when creating an LED replacement strategy for existing fluorescent lamp canopies. While LED brightness levels are an important part of the project, many factors exist for canopy projects that extend beyond the price of the product itself. Labor cost and the nuances of construction approvals also had to be considered which meant that the LED design had to offer ease of installation and safety.
The Solution
JKL’s Alumiline LED series was developed to address the unique challenges of the large scale signage industry, with a prime focus on the petroleum sector.
Safety
Alumiline series LED fixtures operate on 24 volts which greatly improves safety as compared to the previously used high voltage fluorescent lamps. The risk of electrical shock during installation is mitigated and the risk of arcing is eliminated. The low 24V constant voltage design allows for the use of simple class II wiring.
Alumiline LED fixtures are truly durable with UL and IP67 ratings. Their environmentally friendly design does not require special handling or hazardous disposal.

Designed for exterior signage and canopy installations, these LED fixtures are UL listed and regularly tested for quality control and high performance.
EASE OF INSTALLATION
JKL’s Alumiline fixtures include two series – “ZRF Retrofit” & “ZWF New Construction”
RETROFITS “ ZRF ” HO Alumiline LED Series
JKL’s ZRF HO series has been designed specifically for T12 fluorescent lamp replacement. Available in eight different lengths ranging from 2 feet to 8 feet the LED fixture lengths fit precisely into the existing R17d tombstone sockets.
The fluorescent lamps and high voltage wiring is simply removed and the 24V LED fixtures are easily installed into the existing lamp holders. Up to 3 of the 8 foot bars can be connected in series and as many as 12 of the 2 foot bars can be connected in series. The 160° lens projection eliminates dark spots that are often present when replacing the spherical light output of a fluorescent lamp with standard LEDs.
NEW CONSTRUCTION “ ZWF ” Series
The “ZWF” series was designed for new construction and includes 5 different lengths ranging from 1 foot (337mm) to 4 feet (1236mm). The LED fixtures feature onboard mounting holes that allow the fixture to be easily screwed into place. Alternatively, two different mounting clips are offered that also offer simple screw installation. The simple fool-proof connectors allow the fixtures to be easily linked. Jumper connectors come in varied lengths allowing for longer runs. Up to 12 meters (40 feet) can be connected in a
single run.
